For this assignment, focus in on the coaching and mentoring techniques you have established for your Individual Development Plan. Through defining both coaching and mentoring, you have a better vision for the necessary techniques to aid in the success of the mentoring process. Review your coaching and mentoring techniques that you brainstormed in your Individual Development Plan outline. Develop a description (1,250-1,500 words) of your coaching and mentoring techniques that addresses the following:

  1. Include coaching techniques to support your mentee in reaching the short-term and long-term goals. How will you use these to support the growth of your mentee? How can you use these techniques as a manager or leader of a team of people?
  2. Include mentoring techniques to support your mentee in reaching the short-term and long-term goals. How will you use these to support the growth of your mentee? How can you use these techniques as a manager or leader of a team of people?
  3. Determine an effective solution for helping your mentee identify his or her potential and take initiative to achieve his or her goals.
  4. Discuss your emotional and social intelligence skills that will contribute to the success of the mentoring experience.
  5. Identify the relevant ethical considerations you incorporated into the design of your plan and selection of techniques. How do the selected activities and techniques accommodate both your own and the mentee's values and beliefs? Finally, discuss how your decisions for your plan and techniques are in line with a specific Christian value or belief.

Individual Development Plan : Establish your goals, give them a priority order, Chart a timeline for attaining it, identify obstacles in its accomplishment, acquire necessary skills to attain it though enrolling in courses, training or development programs, use your all links, support and resources, evaluation of your progress.

Coaching techniques to support your mentee:

Establish clear goals of mentee and informing them the method to achieve it in a fixed time span, setting time period for achieving each one;

Give constructive feedback in small amounts that can be assimilated by mentees; it should be on points where improvements are possible, check how much employee is taking it seriously and working on it;

Appreciating the endeavours of employees, rejoicing the milestones accomplished nevertheless of its magnitude,

Give active listening to mentees.

The above strategies will be used for mentee growth as the coach will sit with mentee to discuss his career goals and in light of organizational objectives and his current job requirements chalk out a customised career planning for him. Coach can do SWOT of mentee to give him clarity. They can go for 360 degree feedback to identify the lag areas and then look for options for plugging those. The organizational training programme can incorporate the collective needs of all employees or mentees and be more focussed.

Mentoring techniques to support your mentee:

Set the direction. Establish goals of mentee in meticulous way.

Become an example yourself as mentor for mentee by being optimistic, showing tolerance and perseverance, adopting fresh approaches to solve issues, being solution centric etc

Anticipating differences in opinion with mentee when provide negative feedback to mentee, but discuss everything in open and not hold grudges. Give more good feedback to counter adverse ones.

Facilitate building esteem in mentees during their accomplishments of formidable tasks

The above strategies will be used for mentee growth as the mentor develops a close relationship with mentee. They work to enhance their personal capabilities as well as improve their current job performance and prepare them for future leadership in their department or division. They work mainly on building soft skills for their mentees along with sharpening their skills and updating their knowledge

Determine an effective solution for helping your mentee identify his or her potential and take initiative to achieve his or her goals. Let him do his SWOT, Brainstorming, Meeting with mentee with full knowledge of his profile and interests and discussing their goals in depth, 360 degree feedback for finding strengths of employee. Following “GROW model (goal, current reality, options, will)”

Discuss your emotional and social intelligence skills that will contribute to the success of the mentoring experience.

The skills are being empathetic towards mentee, being self aware of ones and others emotions and manages well for mutual benefits, power to get connected with mentees, precisely understanding the emotional status of mentee, Role modelling, Reflection on learning, generating trust, relational orientation

How do the selected activities and techniques accommodate both your own and the mentee's values and beliefs?
