Answer #1

We know that correlation coefficient between two variable lies between -1 to +1. Where, -1 correlation coefficient means they are perfectly negatively associated and +1 correlation coefficient means they are perfectly positively associated. And correlation coefficient close to +1 means they are positively associated and correlation coefficient close to -1 means they are negatively associated. And correlation coefficient close to +0.50 means they are moderately positively associated and correlation coefficient close to -0.50 means they are moderately negatively associated.

Here, given that teenagers with higher number of friends and acquaintances also tended to engage in more delinquent acts.

i.e. number of friends and delinquent acts is positively associated.

Hence, correlation coefficient is close to +1
