True or False

(1) An exon is the intermediate molecule that carries information encoded by a gene outside the nucleus where that information is used to produce a protein.

(2) The number of failing edges in a keyword tree can never be more than k, where k is the number of patterns.

(3) The space complexity of suffix tree is linear to the length of the text string.

Answer #1

1- true

EXPLANATION- During transcription (process of formation of RNA from DNA) the DNA sequence coding for tRNA or rRNA molecule also define a gene. However by defining cistron as a segment of DNA coding for polypeptide, the structural gene in a transcriptional unit could be said as monocistronic(mostly in eukaryotes) or polycistronic (mostly in bacteria or prokaryotes). In eukaryotes, the monocistronic structural genes have interrupted coding sequences - the genes in eukaryotes are split . The coding sequences or expressed sequences are defined as EXON. Exons are said to be those sequence that appear in mature or processed RNA.   Now the newly formed RNA comes out from the nucleus after the completion of transcription for the next process called translation (process of formation of protein from RNA). Hence the RNA contains the coding sequence exon which is responsible for synthesis of protein and it takes place outside the nucleus.
