1) In 1944, the Supreme Court upheld the authority of the U.S. government to order the internment of a minority group in the interest of national security, even though there was no evidence that any members of this group were disloyal to the United States. Should the same policy be applied today against U.S. Muslims or Muslim immigrants? Why or why not?

2) Why should a poll be scientific rather than informal?

1- As the reading material on page 189 stated "During World War II, citizens of Japanese descent living on the West Coast, whether naturalized immigrants or Japanese Americans born in the United States, were subjected to the indignity of being
removed from their communities and interned under Executive Order 9066." This order was unfair then just as it would be unfair to inter Muslim-Americans today, although the reasoning would be different in my opinion. Many people in the media and on social media believe that "islamaphobia" is alive and well in this country. I don't believe that as there are many Muslims in the United States and all of its communities. I have seen many people forget that the internment of the Japanese-Americans is based on race and not of a religious nature, this fact doesn't make anything less wrong but it is an important factor to consider. Race and religion are two separate issues and one can be changed while the other can not. I don't believe there is any basis for the United States to round up and put Muslims in camps as they are practicing the belief system of Islam, and with that we have all races from the world that are practicing Islam. If the United States were to forcibly inter Muslims it would shake the world to its very foundations and would cause many more problems in the global community. However I do believe that we need to have more vetting of any immigrant coming into the United States for security reasons and for better controls on immigration, this wouldn't be just for Muslims and people from Muslim majority countries but for all that come to the United States.
