I had purchased an air conditioner last year in September from a retailer. It started giving some trouble. So I contacted the retailer for service, since it was under warranty. They requested me to approach the manufacturer's repair center. After, registering the complaint, the repair center sent a serviceman to look into the matter. He found out that the compressor had stopped working. Since this was under warranty, the cost of new compressor and service was endured by the manufacture.

In another instance, my cellphone's touch screen cracked due to damage. I approached the repair center. The cellphone was purchased around 8 months before the damage and had a warranty of 2 years from date of purchase. The warranty did not cover damage to touchscreen. Hence, the charges of damage were not covered under warranty and I had to pay for the repair charges.

Thereby, we see that the warranty clauses should be read properly prior to purchase of any product.
