Answer #1

One of the areas which sociology seeks to understand differences in society is through the class. According to the sociologist Max Weber, Class is distinguished into three forms- Class, Status and Party. The status part of the class that shapes the practices of individuals belonging to a certain class. Status comes with economic advantages and association with honour. A social class of rich people usually seeks to eat and consume what is better than the rest. With the coming of the postmodern work there is a shift from production to consumption. Identity is associated with consumption- people consume to show the class which they belong to. In showing specific social class individuals or groups develop specific tastes and preference in food. This is given by the kind of lifestyles the people of a class choose. In other words, much of what people of a social class does is an act of distinction of class done either consciously or unconsciously.
