Definition: Z score is a measure of how many standard deviations below or above the population mean a raw score is.

Uses:

(i) We can calculate the probability of a score occurring within the normal distribution using Z-score

(ii) We can compare two scores that are from different normal distributions using Z-score.

(iii) If Z-score corresponding to raw score lies outside [-3,3] then this raw score is considered as an outlier.

Z-score=(raw score-Mean)/SD
