Novel Blood Test Could Determine Person’s Life Expectancy, Researchers Say.
Newsweek (7/9, Gander) reports scientists at Yale University have created “a blood test they claim can predict a person’s life expectancy” by measuring what they call a person’s “phenotypic age.” According to Newsweek, the basis of the test is “if a person’s phenotypic age is higher than their chronological age, they may be at greater risk of dying. It works by measuring nine biomarkers in the body, the authors wrote in a paper published in the biological sciences archive bioRxiv.” Researchers found in the study that “people who aged fastest had more diseases than those who aged at a slower pace.”
Answer: Although this test could provide information regarding the life expectancy of people. It is not always necessary to be dependent on these kinds of test. So,it is not a good idea to get this test and know the our life expectancy or time left to live.
The benefits of this test includes that the person can know about his life as well as time left for him to live. So, he can make full use of time. It depends upon the result, so one can plan his life according.
The drawback includes such that after knowing about the life expectancy, people who will get the result that they would have short life expectancy, they might become depressed, unable to bear the shock or may be suffers from chronic diseases etc.
