Answer- Communication plays an integral role in conveying any message or information, only if conducted properly. Communicating with diverse populations can be tricky, especially because of the lack of similarities that exists between the individuals within a diverse population. The following are three important factors that should be considered while communicating with diverse populations-

i) Open-mindedness- Keeping an open mind refers to being accepting and considerate of other's opinions. When communicating with diverse populations, the chances of having disagreements can be very high. In such cases, being open to differences in opinions and views is essential for not only maintaining equilibrium but also to avoid any form of an altercation.

ii) Knowledge- Consideration of having knowledge and respect for individuals and their cultural backgrounds is essential. Knowing people's cultural background will not only help one assess others effectively but would also help them take the necessary precautions while communicating, to avoid offending or hurting their sentiments.

iii) Monitoring one's non-verbal communication- Our non-verbal communication includes our gestures, body language, and mannerisms. Our non-verbal communication may speak louder than our verbal communication at times. For example- Making prolonged eye contact may be a sign of active listening for certain individuals, however, it may come across as inappropriate or rude to some belonging from different cultural backgrounds.
