Should the flow meters be put towards the front or the end of the pipe? Why?
when doing the experiment
As far as the location is considered flow meter can be placed
either at the start or end of pipe if the pipe flow is full .
Placement of flow meter is critical to obtaining accurate flow
readings. For a flow meter to
perform properly there must be:
1. A full pipe at all times, and
2. A uniform water velocity across the cross section of the
pipe
To assure the pipe is always full, the flow meter must be
situated in a
location where the pipeline beyond the meter is at least 1
pipe
diameter above the level of the section of pipe where the meter
is
situated.
Should the flow meters be put towards the front or the end of the pipe? Why?...
A connection in parallel is to be made of 25mm piping, one pipe will be of 20 meters long and the other one will be 30 meters long. Both pipes are made of cast iron and have a 45 degree elbow at the end. Determine the head loss when the total flow among both pipes is 10GPM 2. A connection in parallel is to be made of 25mm piping, one pipe will be of 20 meters long and the other...
4. Your physics instructor walks towards the front door of Lillard Hall. You stand at the edge of the roof, planning to throw an egg on him (shame on you)! If your instructor walks horizontally at 1.25 m/s towards the door, and you throw the egg upwards at 3 m/s (to make your get-away) at a height of 5 meters above the instructor's head, how far should the instructor be from the door when you start?
Hydrodynamic losses in pipe flow are characterized by measuring the pressure drop over a length of pipe L. If you anticipate using flow rates of 1.0 gals/min through 3/8" i.d. smooth-wall tubing, and want a pressure drop of 12 kPa, what length, L, of tubing should you use? Express your answer in meters. Note: You will note that this problem statement uses mixed units, which unfortunately are a fact of life in engineering calculations. You should know how to do...
in what distance should a body be put in front of a concave mirror, knowing that the focal distance is 20cm, for the image would be real and reduced?
2. Fund A charges a 2.5% front-end load and maintains an expense ratio of 75%. Fund B charges a front-end loan of 3% and an expense ratio of 30%. Assume the rate of return is 12% per year for both the funds. You have $25,000 to invest and you want $72,000 in 10 years for a down payment towards your dream home. Which of these two funds would you invest your money in and why? (1 pts)
Problem The relation between pressure drop and flow rate of laminar flows in a pipe is given by l bar 50 m 20° 128u dz PS Flow rate Q is the product of the average velocity and the cross-sectional area of the pipe What is the pressure needed to drive a viscous oil flow upslope through a 12 cm diameter pipe? The length of the pipe is 50 meters. The slope is 20°. At the end of the pipe, the...
18. Find the velocity of flow in a 460-mm (18-in) pipe flowing full at a slope of 2 percent. Manning's n is 0.010. 14. The upstream end of a 760-mm (30-in) pipe has an invert of 134.75 at the manhole. What invert should be used for the end of a connecting 460-mm (18-in) pips?
a teacher at a university in England should move a concrete pipe down a hill. What speed does the pipe have at the end of the slope if it is allowed to roll freely (without slipping) = The tube has inner diameter d and outer diameter D. The slope is L long and slopes θ. The pipe is 3 meters long and concrete has a density of 4000 kg / m 3. The tube starts at rest. d m D...
scouS in a pipe are expre in terms of a Jriction Jactor, J. It is important to frictional forces in pipe flow because they result in pressure loss which must be accounted for in the piping system. For turbulent flow in pipes, the friction factor is calculated using the Colebrook equation: e/D 2.51 VT where e is the roughness height, D is the pipe diameter and Re is the pipe Reynolds number (dimensionless). For e/D = 0.008 and Re =...
Please answer with full explanation as to why thank you. 1) A group of water particles move together in river, the sum of all forces on their boundary must be zero, (True or False)? 2) water flow in a pipe from reservoir and its gate is open initially. when the gate is suddenly closed, the pressure change in front of gate increases with (a) water speed (b) pipe diameter (c) water density
