Why is the discussion of decision rights an important issue for IT departments and managers of a firm? Give real life examples.
Firms run in an hierarchy and the right to take certain decisions is with only selected people. Both IT department and managers need to consult these people for these decisions and they cannot take the word of any other person. If the person is not available they cannot take any further step until another person is given power to take decisions. For example if the department wants to access some financial details of the firm they need take the permission from the respective authority before doing so . In the same way managers cannot take all the decisions and they need to follow management's orders in some issues. Therefore discussing who takes the decisions and what are the rules followed is very important for IT departments and managers to proceed with their work.
