8-1) a) Postal Service uses hierarchical sorting by starting from bottom - up.

That means the first level of sorting starts based on the Country,Which will sort the letters and group them based on the countries.

After that the sorting is based on the state within the country.

After which District,City,Postal Code and so on.

b) This kind of sorting helps in quickly classifying the letters into the appropriate destination and the odds of losing the letter is minimal because even if the house number is wrong,there is a high possibility that the letter will be delivered.Also the effort is reduced and also the efficiency is increased.
