MOTOR CORTEX HAVE THREE AREAS OF FRONTAL LOBE-

1- SUPPLEMENTARY MOTOR AREA

2- PRIMARY MOTOR CORTEX

3-PREMOTOR CORTEX

PREMOTOR CORTEX

  • Present anterior to primary motor cortex
  • Play an important role in motor control
  • Involved in planning movement
  • helpful in controlling the movements or exact movements

SUPPLEMENTARY MOTOR AREA

  • Present on the midline surface of hemishphere anterior to primary motor cortex
  • Involved in movement controlling or controlling sequence of events
  • involves in cordination of two side of body

Premotor cortex and SMA

  • To draw out movements, both require high current
  • Both are responsible for complex and appropriate motor output.
