Patient safety is always a concern among the roles of nursing informatics. One of the major steps in patient safety is effective and flawless documentation. Electronic Health Record (EHR) is implemented most of the healthcare facilities now and these can be used to get the patient information quickly and to improve the patient care outcomes and it is the responsibility of informatics nurse to ensure the patient safety through EHR.

Informatics is now changing the face of healthcare systems. With the advancement in technologies, the way of collecting, assessing and optimizing patient data are changed vastly. Optimization is the continuous improvement of processes which helps in improving the patient care and outcomes. Clinical processes are better optimized through the nursing informatics.
