Analyze the advantages of Agile development and its application in high-budget short-time projects
Advantages of Agile Development:
1. During the entire software development cycle, testing is continuous, this makes quality single most important issue and the team is regularly involved in development issues and updates required. The fresh issues that arise are dealt with by the on the same day.
2. The software development is in small parts with regular software patches and version release.
3. The customer/owner is involved with the development almost at every stage with early software release shared with the customer. Changes are made flexible and visible to the customer.
4. Regular sprint meetings are conducted including the product owner, scrum master and his whole team. The meetings agenda include top fresh priorties with advancements on earlier version.
5. Project failure risk reduces because of keeping the product in regular development. New changes are easily implemented. Frequent changes also ensure that costs don't escalate.
6. The return of investment for the owner/customer is early in development stage as an market ready version is released with product remaining in development stage. Changes or updates are provided to the customers over the air.
Application of Agile Development:
A light weight agile development process known as scrum is becoming famous and widely used in SDLC. In scrum, a bigger project is divided in smaller parts and tasks for different teams so that each part is developed in a time frame and then all parts are combined together. These time frames are known as sprints.
The sprints involve meetings too, involving rapid development based on pre specified agendas. The scrum master manages these meetings with the owner and his team involved.
The development of project follows a straight line and with sprint applied, the process which could have spanned for weeks, takes mere days for completion.
