lipids can move via lateral diffusion, rotation, flexion and flip-flap. Lateral diffusion is the type of movement done by lipids present on the plasma membrane. It is a fairly quick and spontaneous process. Along with lateral diffusion, rotation about its axis, flip flop motion and flexion of fatty acid side chains also occur in lipids.
