A self-assessment and skill evaluation is essential to creating a career plan that will lead to a fulfilling career. Conduct a self-assessment and personal skills inventory on yourself. This could be a desire to live in a certain location, earn a certain amount of money, use certain skills, or engage in certain activities.

There are various types of skills which can be described as below:

PEOPLE SKILLS

  • Understand how people feel
  • Help or care for others
  • Meet and talk with people; get along with others
  • Get others to do things your way
  • Sell things
  • Get people to work together
  • Teach others to do something or understand something
  • Supervise other people's work
  • Other people skills you have

THINGS SKILLS

  • Work with tools, appliances, machines, wood, leather, etc.
  • Fix toys, jewelry, furniture, appliances, vehicles, etc.
  • Grow plants or animals
  • Figure out how machines, tools, or appliances work
  • Find a better way to make, build, or do something
  • Operate machines or vehicles easily
  • Understand directions for assembling things

Each skill is associated with individual and needs to be assessed accordingly

Each skill can be rated from 1 to 10

10 to 7 - Proficient

7 to 4 - Skilled

4 to 1 - Not Skilled

Skill Rating (1-10)
Work with tools, appliances, machines, wood, leather, etc. 7
Fix toys, jewelry, furniture, appliances, vehicles, etc. 4
Grow plants or animals 5

According to these skills the type of career can be decided.If i am very skilled in operating machines and familiar with tools i can pursue jobs like mechanic.

For a mechanic locations that are desired are highly populated area where the use of automobiles is more which leads to more business and more profit in turn.

For certain skills there is more leisure time and for others not much.If you are more playful and would like to have more time enjoying the nature the job should be in line with the skill and need.

Money is a major criteria for choosing any job or a career path not every job pays well.If you are skilled to identify a job that pays well you need to identify and work towards determining a suitable job accordingly.
