a> I expect that the avergae product of labor on the second shift to be lower than that of the first shift. I also expect that the marginal product of the third shift to be lower than that of the second shift.

The reason behind this is the diminishing marginal return of labor. Marginal product of workers will fall over shifts and thus the average product will also fall as the labor amount increases.

b> Since they have a diminishing marginal return, the marginal cost of producing hand-sanitizer will increase as it increases the number of shifts.
