I was hoping that someone could help me through a discussion/check of a pedigree I had to draw for a class project. I am struggling because there are multiple diseases to indicate a mechanism of inheritance for, and I'm getting confused with the instance of two parents affected by two separate diseases. In addition to this, I am supposed to indicate the likelihood of the first child of the last generation inheriting any of these diseases...which I believe I could do if someone could help me with the the former issues I'm having. Would anyone be willing to help me do a check of my work thus far and plan on how to move forward?

Answer #1

Autosomal Recessive - skip pattern of inheritance is followed. Most of the enzymes coded by autosomal recessive genes.

Autosomal Dominant- It follows rule of dominance i.e. if the child gets disease, one of the parents must be diseased.

X linked recessive - males are more affected than females. Criss cross inheritance is followed.

X linked dominant - female predominance is seen. If male parent is affected, then all the daughter will be affected.
