Differences between TCP and UDP.

TCP UDP
Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) is a connection-oriented protocol User Datagram Protocol (UDP) is a connectionless protocol
TCP is reliable.Data sent using a TCP protocol is guaranteed to be delivered to the receiver. UDP is unreliable, means does not provide guaranteed delivery.
TCP uses a flow control mechanism. Hence chances of congestion is low. UDP does not provide flow control.Hence chances of congestion is high..
TCP uses ordering which ensure the receiver receives packet in order. UDP not uses ordering which cause out of order packet delivery.
TCP works slower than UDP. UDP is faster than TCL

1. It allows client to resolve Host Name into Internet Protocol addresses. Its also called as forward look-up.

2. It also allows reverse look-up means finding Host Name from Internet Protocol address.

3. It allows machines to form logical group by using domain names.

4. It is distributed, hence reliable.

5. Host Aliasing : A host with a complicated hostname can have one or more alias names. DNS can be invoked by an application to obtain the canonical hostname for a supplied alias hostname as well as the IP address of the host.

6. It also distribute the load between the replicated servers.
