Tech giants of the world including likes of Microsoft, Google and Amazon are investing heavily in healthcare industry to revolutionize the outdated industry. The US health market, in particular, is very big and has a very high untapped potential to generate revenue streams.
Every market player has a different vision in which it can influence and benefit the existing healthcare services in terms of delivery and accessibility of services. Amazon can help in better reach and delivery of medicines using its vast network. Apple is helping in transitioning the medical records on smartphones. Uber, on the other hand, is providing the medical emergency transportation market. Alphabet is using high-end Artificial intelligence to help doctors take a better view of the patient's disease and leveraging AI to predict diseases in the first stages only using algorithms based on current body health indicators.
However, it is still a debate if tech companies can change the industry in a breakthrough way. Considering issues like issue of medical liability if something wrong happens with patients, issues pertaining to data ownership about the patients' health which is personal data will need to be addressed first.
