This week we are studying Ecotourism. With the many political debates surrounding the environment as of lately, what are your thoughts on the positive and negative impacts of Ecotourism?
Positives of Ecotourism:
· It helps to educate people on importance of nature
· The money generated from tourism is put for conservation activities leading to positive impact
· The condition of indigenous people gets improved as they get source of livelihood
Negatives of Ecotourism:
· Due to increase in tourism, people located in nearby areas are displaced so as to provide space for Hotel, parking etc.
· It disturbs the nature as Flora and Fauna gets impacted due to human intervention
· It impacts the environment as lot of non-environmental friendly practices are followed like use of plastics etc.
· There are conflicts in area between indigenous people, government and people running tourism in regard to profit sharing etc.
So, there are both positive and negative aspects. But, it should continue as it can be more beneficial in the long run. However, negative aspects must be avoided.
If you liked my answer, please give an Up-vote. This will be quite encouraging for me. Thank you!
