Compare and contrast the strengths and weaknesses of the leadership styles you have chosen;
There are various leadership styles that a leader can adopt and put into practice like Autocratic leader, Democratic leader, Bureaucratic leader, Laissez-faire or hands-off leader, etc.The leadership style that i would choose and compare and contrast is an integrated leadership style - a combination of both autocratic and democratic leadership styles.
An autocratic leadership style is one where the leader is one who focuses on the results and efficiency.These style of leaders are like military commanders or those who give commands and doesn't get any ideas from its employees.These leaders don't take suggestions or opinions of their subordinates.These type of leaders help their employee increase their productivity by having a proper work process in place and expect the subordinates to follow the process strictly to achieve the desired results.However, these type of leaders are very good in crisis situation when decisions have to be taken without any delay.Since these leaders directly communicate the decisions to the subordinates there is no room for any miscommunication.Though there are many advantages to this style of leadership, there are many disadvantages as well.Since these leaders don't take the suggestions or opinions of the subordinates they rely on their own experience and it may at times discourage the subordinates who may have innovative ideas as to how to do a process in a better way.This may create a discomfort of the subordinates to communicate well and in turn make them less productive.Because of this style of leadership it can result in a large turnover of its employees.Hence, though this style of leadership is good during crisis situation it is fully not recommended one can adopt a mixture of autocratic and democratic style of leadership so that there can be a balance.Democratic leadership style is one in which the view of the employees are taken into consideration but during crisis situation they may not be sufficient since it will be not be quick as it involves suggestions from the entire team.Miscommunication would result in this type of leadership style since it is directly not communicated to the subordinates.
