Answer #1

Solution :

1) The reactivity of bromine follow the order :

Cyclehexane < Ethylbenzene < Cyclohexene

The bromine is more reactive towards cyclohexene due to presence of one double bond. It's reactivity decreases towards ethylbenzene due to delocalization of double bonds in benzene ring. Cyclohexane is unreacted due to absence of double bonds.

2) The reactivities of different hydrocarbons towards KmnO4 follow the order.

Cyclohexane < Ethylbenzene < Cyclohexene

The presence of unsaturation increases the reactivity of KMnO4.

Thus, cyclohexene being an unsaturated hydrocarbon reacts rapidly with KMnO4, while cyclohexane being a saturated hydrocarbon does not reacts with KMnO4. Ethylbenzene reacts with KMnO4 and oxidized into benzene carboxylic acid.
