A per son is unemployed if he doesn't have a job but is willing to find one and is actively looking for one

a) Total population is 1200 and 200 are looking for jobs but don't have it so the unemployment rate is 200/1200 x 100 = 16.67%

a) Total population is 1200, of which 100 are out of the labor force who have given up, and 100 are looking for jobs but don't have it so the unemployment rate is 100/1100 x 100 = 9.09%
