Answer #1

a) The laws of Physics that will be used in determining the coefficient of kinetic friction is the Newton's second law of motion. It says that the sum of forces is equal to the mass times acceleration. Applying it along y axis we get the normal force and applying along x we get friction force f.

We know, f =uN. Using this we calculate u.

b) The direction of the force of friction is opposite to the direction of motion.

In this lab you will be given two different sets of vectors to add together. In Activity 1, you will add position vectors: in Activity 2 you will add forces. Vector addition is an important concept in physics. To be well prepared for the lab you need to solve the following example. Make sure to show all your work in detail. Write the equations first, and then plug in the numerical values. Do not forget to do unit conversions. Use...

In a physics lab experiment for the determination of moment of inertia, a team weighs an object and finds a mass of 4.76 kg. They then hang the object on a pivot located 0.188 m from the object\'s center of mass and set it swinging at a small amplitude. As two of the team members carefully count 101 cycles of oscillation, the third member measures a duration of 261 s. What is the moment of inertia of the object with...
