Plato's allegory of the divided line
The diveded line is a visual allegory proposed by Plato in which he devides reality into 2 parts : the invisible/intelligible and the visible realms. The invisible realm includes ideas,thoughts or forms and the visible realm consists of physical objects. The invisible can be detected through our senses and the visible can be discovered using our knowledge. Each of these are further devides into higher and lower level. At the lowest level there is realm of images consisiting of reflection of images, shadows which can be sensed through imagination. And at the higher level there is realm of physical objects which can be sensed through trust or opinion .
