1. Immune system mistakes some proteins of self as the foreign proteins and starts attacking the proteins or the antigens present on the islets of the pancreas. Pancreatic beta cells are destroyed by T cells of the immune system.

It is still not very clearly understood. But scientists believe that the genes and the environment factors like a disease causing  virus triggers the auto immune action of the islets casusing the disease type 1 diabetes.

2. When two individuals have conflicting optimal fitness strategies of reproduction like mating frequency.

One example can be , males may benifit by multiple matings. but female may be harmed by multiple matings.
