Ans.

Although trade used to be done in the past times also when there was silk road and lots of other maritime routes all over the world but the commodities traded have been differed. Earlier there used to be kingdoms and their needs were different. Following are the things that have lost their value now but we're in great demand in those times-

1. Gold and silver coins and ornaments which were largely used by the rulers. Also various precious stones were traded

2. Ivory was also used to make ornaments beads etc

3. Silk for the royal uses

4. Animal skin, hides etc

5. Pottery from Persia etc

6. Horses from middle East which were in great use those times

There are also many other things that were traded earlier but have lost their importance now. In fact the silk route was known for trading of silk.
