1: Let me first tell you what the Disaster Recovery Plan is?
A Disaster Recovery Plan(DRP) is actually a set of Documents with some procedures and rules to follow for an IT business Industry, which might face an event before, during and after a disaster (Natural, Environmental or man-made). This Document is introduced in advance by IT Business Organisation's top managing committees which might work with some plans on how to recover in case Industry faces any event of a Disaster or should work in a way to escape from the disaster.
Types of plans made in DRP:
2: The Bigger organizations have data centers around the country and even around the world. Smaller organizations, often at one physical location have distributed servers and data storage scattered around their office premises. However, the distributed data centers often lack the safety and access control of a centralized facility. Similarly to larger organizations, these companies also see a need to consolidate their processing which is only possible if the data centers are located at one place, controlling the overall flow of an organization.
3: Disaster Recovery is now in the list of cloud services, one can buy directly from the cloud service providers. Apart from the benefits the DR services provides, there are some serious issues too.
Before adopting DR as a Service for an organization, IT leaders should understand its value and limitations as, without a detailed analysis, organizations might make wrong decisions and maybe stuck into inappropriate contracts.
It should be used in a way as it Reduces Disaster Recovery Costs, Reduces IT resources spent on DR, Reduce Complexity and provide Better Comprehensive Solutions. It should be avoided on the grounds that all operating system software for the original site and the backup site might be different in terms of vendor and version number. This makes it challenging to provide DRaaS offerings from a customer's private cloud to our cloud or between the Service provider clouds and each time software changes, incompatibilities can be introduced and things might break apart.
