2) Vacuum distillation is the process in which liquid is purified under less pressure whereas in simple distillation two liquids having some difference in boiling point are separated such as water purification in which water is purified from toxic chemicals or salt.

Also , vacuum distillation allows the component with high boiling point to boil at low atmospheric pressure and also at low temperature in comparison to simple distillation. As components are distilled at low boiling point, results in saving of energy and also relative volatility which is major factor in determination as if the components are separable or not also increases which means if relative volatility is higher than 1.1 then components could be easily separated.
