Answer #1

Example of a situation, where children with intellectual disabilities were unable to generalise or transfer new skills from task situation to other -

When children with intellectual disability, were taught to join a puzzle, similar to a given picture, they did. Later, when another puzzle was given, they were unable to do it, unless given a prompt.

Children with intellectual disabilities take time to acquire skills. To help them to transfer skills of one setting to another, it requires practice, experience, prompts, modeling etc. They require more efforts than normal children. When taught in an interactive and interesting way, they tend to learn faster.
