Is it possible for anyone to help me with this
assignment that I need in like 5 hours?
Part I: General HCI Questions
1) The "Start" button in Windows is located by default at the
bottom left corner of the screen. How might you make accessing the
"Start" button faster? What is the name of the principle you are
relying on from the principals identified by Donald Norman and
Section 1.6 from the textbook (visibility, feedback, constraints,
consistency, affordance). What does that principle say?
2) What does paradigm mean? Name and define two paradigms involving
new computing technology.
3) Explain why the iterative user interface design process does not
fit well into the traditional "waterfall" model of software
engineering.
4) What is a conceptual model?
5) What happens when the designer's conceptual model does not match
the user's conceptual model?
6) Select the two answers that best complete the sentence: A good
task description for use in taskcentered user interface
design
a) lists the exact steps required to accomplish the task on a
specific user interface
b) uses specific, realistic examples
c) describes tasks that are complete and common
d) should describe the hardest tasks that a user might run
into
e) should be finalized prior to carrying out a contextual
inquiry
7) What is a metaphor? Give two examples of good metaphors in a
GUI-based operating system (i.e. Windows, Apple, Android, …).
9) What are three advantages that low-fidelity prototyping has over
high-fidelity prototyping? What are two disadvantages?
II: Design Process
10) Imagine that you are working on a project to improve the design
of a public library’s information technology. Specifically, you
seek to make it easier for library patrons to find a specific book
within the shelving system of the library.
a. How would you go about conducting a contextual inquiry to inform
your design process?
b. Create a persona that demonstrates the tasks necessary to
achieve the goal.
c. Design a quick UI for this mobile app and incorporate it into a
storyboard that illustrates the scenario you described above.

III: Heuristic Evaluation
11) The professor wants to design the CSC 360 Project Website to
host projects created in the classroom. You need to fix any flaws
apparent in the Website. Apply Heuristic Evaluation to this small,
flawed, piece of web interface. Describe seven usability problems
in the website. Label each violation with a number on the figure
and make a list of violations. For each problem, you must discuss
which guideline is violated and why. You should also suggest a
solution for each of these problems. Use Nielsen's second set of
heuristics (available on the last page of this document) to label
each violation. List each violation separately: one violation
applies if shown in different parts of the interface.
IV: Task Analysis
12) The Norfolk Children's Museum would like to design a computer
kiosk that teaches visitors about recycling. Visitors to the museum
are mostly elementary school age children and their parents. While
some children may be computer savvy, most of the kids will be
novices. The kiosk should: 1) give students some background
knowledge on the environment; 2) teach them why they should
recycle; and 3) give them and their parents some functional
information about what can/can't be recycled in Norfolk, how it has
to be separated, and when recycling will be picked up at their
address.
Ask and answer five typical task analysis questions about the
recycling kiosk. Your answers to these questions should come
directly from the above assignment and logical inferences about the
assignment. Answers should be specific and detailed.
HW3: Interface Design
Reference: Nielson's Revised Set of Ten Usability Heuristics
For use with Part III: Heuristic Evaluation, Question #11
1. Visibility of system status
2. Match between system and the real world
3. User control and Freedom
4. Consistency and standards
5. Error prevention
6. Recognition rather than recall
7. Flexibility and efficiency of use
8. Aesthetic and minimalist design
9. Help users recognize, diagnose, and recover from errors
10. Help and documentation
Please Note:
As per the Chegg Answering Guidelines, I have answered the first
question. Please Re-post for the other Questions.
Q1)
Answer)
Windows user all know that the "Start" button in Windows is located
by default at the bottom left corner of the screen. We can access
the start button faster by dragging the mouse straight to the left
down side of the screen and clicking the mouse or also by using the
Windows button on the keyboard for faster access. The principle you
are relying on from the principals identified by Donald Norman will
be visibility, like the Start button and the Windows key are
prominently visible on the system. And thus we know straight away
how to use it.
