Glutaraldeyde in biochemistry is used a a fixative agent to preserve the ultrastructure of the cells. This is done by facilating irreversible intra and inter moloculer interaction between the proteins and other molecules. In the electron microscopy it is used to stabilise the surface and internal structure of the cells. So the option B, immobilize the cells to facilitate food vacuole counting is right.
