A hydrogen ion which has had its electron removed and an iron ion which has had one electron added are brought near each other. Which best describes the electrostatic forces on these ions?

A. The ions attract with the iron ion experiencing a greater force.
B. The ions attract with the hydrogen ion experiencing a greater force.

C. The ions attract with equal magnitude forces.
D. The ions repel with the hydrogen ion experiencing a greater force.

E. The ions repel with the iron ion experiencing a greater force.

Can you explain the right answer. I think its B but I am only taking an educated guess

ADVANCE STUDY ASSIGNMENT: COULOMB'S LAW PURPOSE of tl of this exercise is to become familiar with the force between electric point charges which is descrbed by Coulomb's law. In particular, we will investigate the force's inverse-square dependence on separation distance between charges. DISCUSSION A basic characteristic of electric charge is that charges exert forces on each other, like charges positive-positive and negative-negative) repel each other while opposite charges (positive- and constitute a Newton's third-law pair; that is, they are equal...

Pre-Lab Exercise 2-3 Chemical Bonding One of the more challenging concepts to grasp in chemistry is chemical bonding, a topic that pops up again and again in A&P: We revisit it in cytology, the nervous system, blood, respiration, and digestion-to name just a few First let's do some basics. Use your textbook and this unit to answer the following questions 1. Do metals donate or accept electrons? What do they become after they donate/accept electrons? 2. Do nonmetals donate or...
