Athletes engaged in multiple sports where peak performance in a single sport is reached after skeletal maturation (usually age 12to14 for girls and 14to17 for boys,have equal skilled athletic participation in sports in comparison  to those who specialize earlier.So once your child hits 13 to 14 years of age, then it might be good time for him/her to consider specializing. It's usually in high school age that athletes are faced with a decision to choose a sport if they really want to get as good as possible in it. However, before that you and your child need to resist this pressure to specialize.
