First of all we understand the meaning of burden that is the load on CT secondary side. And the available CT ratings are normally 5Amp or 1Amp CT on secondary side that is generally used for measurement purpose and for protection for power system equipments. So if secondary burden means load current is increased by 20% then it will saturate the CT . CT is saturate because magnetic field is directly proportional to the current so if current is increased then magnetic field is increased but due to not ideality all magnetic domain are saturate .
