Answer:

I don't believe that most companies are adequately prepared for a crisis. I feel that most organizations follow that "it won't happen to me mentality," despite the fact that we have seen on the news on many occasions where somebody goes into a place of past business and shoot somebody. Simply see what happened to those TV reporters in VA, the shooter was a past colleague of theirs and it had been a few years earlier that he worked for that organization. You just never realize what "could" or "may" happen yet being prepared for most crisis scenarios would allow you to have a battling chance. I understand that there is an additional expense to actualize crisis management however the advantages of having a fruitful result is far less exorbitant than the chance of losing somebody's life.

The company I work for doesn't have a crisis management plan at all. It took me 3 years to get a panic button installed for the front counter. Our assistant sits in advance with 3 meeting rooms around her and the remainder of the staff and regular areas at about 30 feet away behind another set of entryways. We had no camera to check whether she was alright and there was no signal framework to know when somebody entered the workplace suite. The main bit of crisis management we adopted was a team leader to be the "fire warden" this representative was to make sure all different workers left the structure during a fire drill or in case of an actual fire.

They were to maintain a head tally and report to our property management company. They even organized where outside the structure we were to meet. If we were to have an actual crisis, for example, a fire, we are located on the 5thfloor of a more established developer and stairs have lopsided treads and elusive floors. We have a rundown of who to contact should something happen outside of the workplace yet should a disaster strike while at work, no plan has ever been finalized.
