In gc when the two compunds that are being seperated have very similar retention time then we have to increase the retention time son that we get better seperation

Always remember in both gc and hplc the longer the run time better will the seperation and shorter the run time the seperation is poorer

So in order to increase the run time and get better resolution and seperation the following changes should be done

01. Pressure - the pressure should be lowered

Increased pressure means short run time and poor resolution and seperation

02. Heating ramp rate -

The heating ramp rate should also be lowered so we get better seperation

03. Length of column

- longer the length of column better will be the seperation
