Yes, it is true that a supervisor or a manager should not interfere in employee personal matters or problems because managers are not supposed to have the full view of the concerns and issues of the employee or the issue the employee is facing. Also, an employee can take the advice in the wrong way too, so it is better to keep professional communication or relation with the employee.
