1. Memo is the short form of memorandum, which is a type of internal communication directed towrads an individual or a group of employees from senior manager or authority to inform about certain issues on which action is essential. The memo is also a record of communication between the parties,and is used where company wants to retain a proof of th communication, which is sometimes necessary. Business letters are external documents and are used to communicate with external entities like suppliers, customers, strategic partners or other members of the business community with an intention of forming business relationships, answering to business queries, clarifying positions or responding to business communication on different issues. The recipient of business letters are necessarily outsiders. The memo is short and to the point without any formalities, whereas the business letter has a formal tone with niceties and decorative language in very formal manner as per the needs.

(a) Heading

(b) Subject and date

(c) Message which contains the introduction, crux of the subject matter and the desired action on the subject matter
