The electric field E for a ≤p≤b2. The voltage difference between the two conductor surfaces. 3. Since the maximum value of the electric field occurs at the surface p = a, and that value cannot exceed the Emax that causes the dielectric to breakdown, find the relation between a and b that makes V(a) the maximum possible. Hint: Use the expressions of E and V found in (1) and (2) to relate V(a) and E(a).4. Assuming that the dielectric breakdown occurs for Emax=10 kvolts/cm, and that a= 0.1cm, find the maximum voltage the cable can carry.
