KEY POINTS: According to Bronsted-Lowry theory,compounds which accepts a proton are categorised as conjugate acid of the Bronsted-Lowry base and compounds which causes removal of protons are termed as conjugated base of a Bronsted-Lowry acid.

For example:Here,Methylamine(CH3NH2),a base accepts a proton(H+) to form a conjugate acid called methyl ammonium ion(CH3NH3+).

Similarly,an acid dihydrogen phosphate ion(H2PO4-) loses a proton(H+) and gets converted to its conjugate base called monohydrate phosphate anion(HPO42-).
