The solutions for preventing the accidents which is high in the school areas located near the highway are:

  • Traffic signals- The traffic signals should be Installed infront of the school gates where the children/ students cross the road. The traffic signals keep a control of the vehicles when the students are crossing the roads. The cameras can also be Installed with the traffic lights inorder to visualise.
  • Speed limit- the speed limit should be kept on the highways where the school is located. And penality should be kept for those who violate. The speed limit should be especially kept in the school hours.
  • Speed breakers- the speed breakers can be kept infront of the passage of the school where the students cross the road. It will help in controlling of the speed of the vehicles coming.
  • Traffic sign board- The traffic sign board can be used 100 to 200 m before the school such that the drivers can be kept aware off. The sign board that can be kept is the "school ahead go slow".
  • Traffic police- They will be of great help for the students who will help them to cross roads. They have the power for controlling the traffic and checking the details of vehicles which donot follow rules.
  • Student police/ elder students- the students who are interested can be kept as the helping hands for the students by controlling the traffic at the school time. The students can be appreciated thus it forms the positve reinforcement for the other students to participate. Eg. Student police cadet scheme etc.....
  • Education to the students- That plays an important role in security of each of the student. The child should be educated about the do's and don'ts while crossing the road and to avoid playing near the roads. Even the parents can be educated which can then passed to the children. Posters, magazines, are help in these situations.
  • Security guard and the cameras- three to five guards should be appointed to keep an eye on the children especially younger age group children along with that as the watchman for the school. They also should be properly instructed and educated.
