Answer -

Exception handling is a mechanism to handle runtime errors such as classNotFoundException, IOException , SQLException etc.

The main advantage of exception handling is to maintain the normal flow of the application. An exception normally disrupts the normal flow of the application that is why we use exception handling.

Where as Traditional handling errors began with a list of tasks you needed to understand to successfully use traditional error handling.

1. Know what raises ERROR.

2. Understanding OpenEdge messages.

3. Know how a particular block handles an error

4. Know how to use block statement options to alter default error handling

5. Know how to test for errors after a NO-ERROR option and branch to your custom error handling logic

6. Know how to raise ERROR and specify an application custom error data.

Exception handling is better than the traditional handling errors.
