Some of the similarities in Foraging societies and pastoralist systems are as follows:

  • Both depend upon food from nature and other natural means.
  • Both of these societies are directly affected by natural calamities.
  • Most importantly, these societies live on hand to mouth in terms of daily livings which shows that they will get their food by their daily labor and other similarities.

Some of the major differences are as follows:

  • Foraging societies always mobilize for their livelihood while the pastoralist system is based on the stable life-style where they grow their crops and other agricultural ways of living.
  • Foraging societies live an unorganized way of living while the pastoralist system lived an organized way of living in terms of their planning of crops and its harvesting.
  • Most importantly, Foraging living is not as much socialized as compared to the pastoral way of living due to their dependence of each other in terms of livelihood in common and many more.
