Experiment:

Since calcium influx is essential for neurotransmitter secretion in the synapse, we can apply blocker of calcium channel Dihydropyridine (DHP) to the acute slices for electrophysiological recordings. We can stimulate the presynapse now and we won't be able to elicit EPSPs (Excitatory Post-synaptic Potentials) as neurotransmitters won't be secreted from the presynapse.
