What are the two most important things you learned concerning American history in this course? Describe each of them and discuss their effects on contemporary American society. Why are they important?

One of the most important things which is important is the independence war which established America as an independent country despite the fact that it was fighting a massive empire. This war also gifted the world with the superpower both economically and military wise too. Second important event is the abolition of slavery which brought out the importance of equality and equal treatment. Although abolition of slavery caused the civil war, it was for the good of the nation and it took another 100 years until the civil rights movement’s success, majority white people never accepted African Americans as equal. Today, America has become more influential country and has overcome the racial discrimination.
