Please Help. Question: Would you expect a stronger anti-union response from an employer in manufacturing or an employer in a service industry and tell why. I must come up with 200 words. There are responses online however they are not detailed enough for me to understand.

In the manufacturing industry, for the common workers, the work is more physical/manual related than using of the mental capabilities. The pressure on physical outputs results into these workers attempting to push themselves beyond their natural physical limits, thereby causing relatively more health concerns than that of a service employer. In addition, the manufacturing industry is so mechanical and task-oriented, it brings a mental fatigue as well upon the workers. In such cases, it becomes essential for the manufacturing workers to form a union so that their safety concerns in the factory lay-out, compensation and output concerns, time & motion concerns, etc. are effectively dealt by the Union.

On the other side, in case of the service industry, although it is task-oriented as well, the sector is much more organized in the manner it treats the employees. There are often variable benefits granted to the workers in the form of target achieving bonuses, overtime allowances, pick up and drop facilities in case of the night shifts for the employees, etc. in such a case, I would expect a stronger anti-union voice from the employers because they anyway try to stretch themselves to meet the general demands and maintain the industry standards of offering benefits to the employees overall.
