An epidemic disease is the rapid spread of infectious disease to a large number of people in a given population within two weeks or less.Ex:-Severe acute respiratory syndrome(SARS).

An endemic disease is an infectious disease that affects the baseline level in a certain geographical area without external inputs.Ex:-Chickenpox in UK.

A pandemic disease is an endemic disease but the most destructive one.It has a spread across the large region, multiple continents or even worldwide which may be communicable or non communicable. Ex:-Black Death(1350) killed of 75 million of population.

Birdflu,HIV and AIDS are referred to be epidemic because HIV the virus causing AIDS is the most deadliest and challenging for health which increases from 6 to 32.5 million united state.

Yes, study of epidemiology and disease control found two fatal cases of meningitis and pneumonia to prevent the future outbreaks.
